The Club Championships are open to all members of the Club and there are at present 25 events including
Mens and Ladies Singles & Doubles; Mixed Doubles; Mens & womens over 35 and over 50 singles; Boys and Girls singles & doubles at U18, U16, U14 and U10 age groups and Family Doubles.
The Championships are for ‘everyone’, not just the top players. The competition is seeded such that everyone will get at least one ‘competitive’ match and then be able to test themselves against someone ranked a little higher. This is called a ‘Progressive Draw’.
For example, in the Mens singles the 4th & 5th team players start in the early rounds. The winners in the first round then probably play a 3rd team player in round two, and the winners of round 2 would then meet 1st or 2nd team players in the quarter or semi-finals.
In the events with fewer entries, Round Robin groups are played with the top players in the group progressing to the later stages.
The ties have ‘Play by Dates’ and the early rounds are played from May to July. The later rounds are played in August, with Finals weekend being in early to mid September each year.
We usually have around 100 competitors in total and there are plenty of great matches.
Remember, whatever your standard, the Club Championships is open to YOU.
